Discus Book 2 :Problem & Solution
Pro More & Pro Growth Supplement

About Andrew's and his well known products
His first book, Discus, the Naked Truth, was well-received by readers all over the world. This has inspired him to embark on this second discus book, a book that tries to solve as many modern issues pertaining to discus of today and also to disseminate as much as possible all that he had learned, failed and succeeded during his years in the ornamental industry. A simple love for discus that sprouted at the age of nineteen, this love has lead him to venture commercially and since then, had spent more than twenty years in the ornamental fish-breeding cum import and export industry. Now, at an age of fifty-four and with twenty years of commercial indulgence in the industry behind him, he is now a regional ornamental fish consultant. The scope not only covers in-situ trouble-shooting or disease-related issues but also that of farm-design and supply of pathogen-free live-bearers and brooder-stocks.

Up-to-date, Andrew Soh has given talks on discus and ornamental fish related topics. They are:
• Aquarama 1995, Seminar speaker ‘Discus Health’
• Aquarama 1997, Conference speaker ‘Intensive culture of artemia’
• Aquarama 1999, Seminar speaker ‘Sexing of discus’
• Agrifood 2000, Seminar speaker ‘Creating new guppy variants’
• Interzoo 2000, Germany, Conference speaker ‘Ornamental fish culture in Singapore’
• Sri Lanka 2002, Two days Seminar cum workshop ‘Good husbandry and export practices’
• 4th International Discus competition 2002, Germany, Seminar ‘Sexing of discus’
• Aquatika 2006, Bangalore, India, seminar speaker ‘Discus diseases and treatments’
• ACA Convention 2007, Sacramento USA, Seminar speaker ‘Discus diseases and treatments’
• Cochin 2007, India, seminar cum workshop ‘Ornamental fish diseases and treatments’
• BIDKA British Discus Show, Bristol 2008, Seminar speaker “Holistic Approach to Discus”
• Local seminars on Guppy, once at Singapore Polytechnic and another at the club house.

He has been a judge for numerous occasions both local and international. Those international competitions were:
Discus Competition 2001, Indonesia
First Discus Competition 2002, France
Fourth International Discus Championship 2002, Germany
American Cichlid Association Discus Competition 2007, Sacramento
Resident judge for Discus Competitions held in Singapore including Agrifood 2000
BIDKA British Discus Show, Bristol 2008, Chief Judge
Judge for two local guppy competitions

To be a valued judge, the ability to evaluate, appreciate the finer details and select the best are an important criteria regardless of species. Being a commercial breeder, participation in competitions is inevitable. Therefore, his ability is literally translated into the ability to select and groom winners. Among the countless winnings in past competitions, those truly made him proud were:
Aquarama 1993, 1st placing in the discusv solid category
Aquarama 1999, Grand Champion, Guppyv
Agrifood 2000,v Grand Champion, Guppy
Aquarama 2003, Grand Champion, Guppyv

In a hatchery or fish farm where breeding is part and parcel a program in its operation, it is vital to ensure that the brooders get the best nutrition. Brooders are the ones that demand food with adequate nutrients not only for their personal well-being but also for the production of gametes. Most importantly, they need more of certain supplements to ensure minimal deformity in offspring, consistency and success of spawns and strong immunity against infection during nursing.

Through our research on the productivity of different strains of fishes with different concoction of proteins and vitamins, this very special supplement known as ‘Pro-More’ was born.
